The Miaad & Albert Bushala Undergraduate Commons

A Place to Learn, Connect, and Dream Bigger

UC Berkeley Haas School of Business

The Miaad & Albert Bushala Undergraduate Commons was created to foster collaboration, connection, and student success within the Haas undergraduate experience.

Located inside the Bank of America Pavilion at Haas, the newly renovated space provides students with a welcoming environment to study, collaborate, recharge, and build community between classes. The project was supported through the Bushala family’s philanthropic giving to UC Berkeley, where they have been recognized as “Builders of Berkeley” for contributing more than $1 million in lifetime support to the university.

Part of the family’s gift was designated specifically for the Spieker Undergraduate Business Program and the transformation of the Undergraduate Commons space. The project also carried special meaning for the family, as their daughter Miaad Bushala helped design elements of the space during her senior year at Haas alongside fellow student task force members.

The Commons reflects the family’s belief that educational spaces should encourage both academic achievement and meaningful human connection.
