Giving with Intention. Leading with Heart.
Who is the Albert and Miaad Bushala Family?
The Albert and Miaad Bushala family — Albert, Miaad, and their children Albert G. and Miaad M. — are an Orange County family united by a shared commitment to community. Rooted in their Lebanese and Chaldean-immigrant heritage, they have built a legacy of giving back to the region that gave them so much, with a focus on education, the arts, and economic development.
Where are you located?
The family is based in Orange County, CA, a community that has been central to both their personal story and their philanthropic efforts.
What organizations do you support?
The family’s philanthropic focus spans the arts, business, and higher education. Their longstanding partners include the University of California, Berkeley, Chapman University, the GRAMMY Museum, and Orange County School of the Arts. They believe in giving back to the organizations that have given so much to their family. Their support is rooted in gratitude and in wanting to open doors for others the way those institutions opened doors for their children. They give because they believe one of the greatest gifts in life is helping create opportunity, especially for students and communities that are shaping the future.
Why are you passionate about giving back to the arts?
The arts are one of the most powerful forces for community connection – and one that is chronically underfunded. The Bushala family believes that access to artistic expression shouldn’t be determined by zip code or income. Their giving is personal, and the family has seen firsthand how music, performance, and creative education transform lives. Their children attended OCSA in the Popular Music Conservatory, where they saw how arts education fosters teamwork, collaboration, discipline, creativity, and confidence both in and outside the classroom. The family is committed to making those opportunities available to anyone with the drive to pursue them.
How has your support impacted higher education programs?
The family’s investment in higher education helped programs grow, evolve, and serve more students. At UC Berkeley, over $1 million in donations has supported expanded arts and business curricula and established the Miaad and Albert Bushala Undergraduate Commons, a dedicated gathering space for students at one of the nation’s top universities. At Chapman University, the family has supported career initiatives within Dodge College, including the Albert and Miaad Bushala Career Center, because they believe in creating opportunities for students not only while they are in school, but also as they transition into their careers after graduation. Similar investments at Chapman University and other partner institutions reflect the family’s belief that the right environment and resources can change a student’s trajectory entirely.
What is The Bank?
The Bank is an upcoming performing arts and community events venue currently in development by the Bushala family. Rooted in their belief that Orange County deserves world-class cultural spaces, The Bank is designed to bring together artists, audiences, and community members in a dynamic new setting. The project grew out of Albert G. Bushala’s passion for music and entertainment and the family’s desire to create a space that gives back. It is envisioned as a place where creativity, entrepreneurship, and community come together—supporting artists, connecting people, and creating opportunity. More details will be announced as the project progresses. For inquiries related to The Bank, please note that details are forthcoming and we will respond as information becomes available.
What is the family’s background in real estate investment and development?
Beyond their philanthropic work, the Bushala family has a deep history in real estate development and construction across Orange County. Their family has been involved in real estate investment and development for decades, building from a single investment into a multi-generational family enterprise. As owner-partners in their real estate investment and development company, they have helped grow a portfolio spanning Southern California and Nevada.
Their business ventures are guided by the same values that shape their philanthropy: community investment, quality, entrepreneurship, and long-term thinking. Albert helped grow the business, Miaad brought her entrepreneurial background and design vision, and now their children are helping lead the next chapter of the family’s legacy.
